Day #1 of A Cappella Doo Wop, A TRIBUTE TO RONNIE I’s STREET CORNER SOUND. He was instrumental in bringing A cappella to LEAD EAST back in 1988 at the Meadowlands! The late Ronnie Italiano was the founder of the UNITED GROUP HARMONY ASSN. based in Clifton. Eight groups perform in the Hotel Ballroom. Fabulous five-part harmony, a vocal art form. No extra admission charge for anyone inside the event.

Saturday's groups include MIXED COMPANY QUARTET, STILL AROUND, The 5 CREATIONS, CLASSIC SOUNDS, CHERISHED MEMORIES, The WHIPTONES, MEMORIES OF YOU and. REMEMBER THEN.

DOO WOP IDOL in Lobby Atrium. Any amateur individual or group can sign up, get on stage, and perform one song in “IDOL” competition. Judges select one winner for $300 cash prize. Today’s winner will also perform one song on stage in Hotel Ballroom in Saturday night Oldies Concert and option to do the same Sunday night. One year, five finalists each got an opportunity to perform on stage at the Saturday night Concert.

AWARDS PRESENTATIONS for TOP CUSTOMS, plus Special Awards presented to the BEST STREET ROD, BEST STOCK RESTORED, BEST MUSCLE CAR, WORST RAT ROD and CORVETTES at the Outdoor Stage. Plus, drawing of $100 cash prize to those who filled out survey form at the admission gate.

5:30 PM

MUFFLER RAPPING: Following Awards Ceremony under rear porte cochere (by revolving door) of Hilton, adjacent to the stage.

Sat. and Sun. winners will then have will have a RAPP-OFF between ‘em to determine this year’s champ. Just for giggles we’ll match up that car up with last year’s winner, CLIFF ECKERT and his ’69 Camaro from Piscataway.

6:00 PM

DON GARLITS will “cackle” vintage AA/FD Swamp Rat 12-A in front of the outdoor stage. Get there early for a seat. It will be packed!

6:30 PM

BACK AGAIN! PARADE OF THE PROM QUEENS Returns. Convertibles line up by Wolfman, near front door to Hampton Inn. Sit inside the car please, not up on convertible top boot.

7:00 PM to 11 PM

The 31st Annual SENIOR PROM in the Elements Ballroom, with Master of Ceremonies/D.J. LIL' JIMMY from Peabody, MA. Crowning of Prom Queen 2017. Must be properly attired: no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, or sneakers. Gals must wear dress or skirt; guys must wear jacket or suit - tie optional. Prom Tickets are limited  but FREE in Main Hallway, just inside the revolving door.

8:00 PM to MIDNIGHT

OUTDOOR 50’s MOVIES at the ACE DRIVE-IN THEATRE. Tonight's triple feature: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) starring nobody you ever heard of before or since; BLACKBOARD JUNGLE (1955) starring GLENN FORD and ANNE FRANCIS and a cast of juvenile delinquents, and QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE (1958) starring ZSA ZSA GABOR. Bring lawn chairs.
